Eid Khutba Ramadan 2007 - Jafar, the cousin of the Prophet Muhammad (s), and other Muslims migrated to a just King in Abyssynia to escape Quraish persecution in Mecca. But Amr, a leader of Quraish, pursued them across the sea to turn the King against the Muslims.  Negus, the just king, summons the Muslims to his court for a fair trial.  Just a few years later, the King himself accepts Islam despite resistance from the kingdom's power-brokers.

Listen in this audio khutba some of what makes Islam so appealing even to the kings - its beliefs so in conformity with reality, its rituals so fruitful and its Law and way of life so wise and a mercy to all !

Tazkiyat-un-Nafs (Purification of The Soul) from Ramadan

Allah Ta'ala says in the Noble Qur'an: "Indeed whosoever purifies himself shall achieve success" (87:14).

Find out how we can achieve Tazkiyah (Purification) of our own souls by doing various acts of worship in Ramadan.  Fasting allows us to harness and control our desires; reading the Qur'an softens our hearts and makes us more obedient to Allah; and praying the Taraweeh prayers in the night in congregation purifies the Muslim community as a whole.

In every act of Ramadan there is a great opportunity to attain Taqwa (Piety) that increases the soul in Tazkiyah.

Islamic Prayer: A Firm and Joyful Pillar 

Other duties were made compulsory by Allah sending down the command via the Angel - but as for the Salat (5 Daily Prayers), Allah, the Most High, sent the Angel to bring the Prophet Muhammad (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to the seventh and highest Heavens.

Follow in this audio some of the verses from the Quran about the prayer and discover how moving these prayers can be for each and every Muslim - arabs and non-arabs alike, the meaning of its various postures, purpose and its fruits for a believer.

How Islam Won the Hearts 

Yes, we do find verses in the Quran about war between two nations clashing on the battlefield.  People such as Pope Benedict, in 2006, misuse such verses against Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (May the peace and blessings of God be upon him).

Yet a look at these very verses in the Quran shows precisely what  these verses about war between nations actually refer to - as opposed to the misconceived and erroneous notion of Jihad that is often portrayed in the non-Muslim owned media.

Why Earthquakes? 

Investigating how earthquakes occur in a particular area  is a quest of experimental and exploratory science.  But WHY an earthquake struck a particular place and people is beyond the scope of experimental, natural sciences. WHY can only be answered correctly by the One Who brought it about, God.  Its answers ought to be searched equally scientifically but in a different manner from the Quran - the Book brought to us from God, The Giver and The Seizer, by His Messenger, Muhammad.

Every common man, Muslim or non-Muslim alike, is seeking peace and security in face of 'terrorism' and cruel power quests.  Yet the Shaytaan and his folks overwhelm others from time to time oppressing the innocent masses. This is nothing new.  

But the way to security from such people and peace in our societies is to be sought economically, politically, militarily, scientifically or by philosophical speculations and conjectures?  

One verse in the Quran gives a promise from Allah, the One who is fully in control of all affairs, a promise for peace and security - one to which the pages of history bear witness again and again.  This short talk is a Tafsir of this verse.
