Assalamu alaikum

When eating your meal in the morning when must you finish it by? Must you be finished before the commencment of Fajr (first sliver of light) or can you go through till before sunrise?

For example this morning I'm up at 4am so that I can finish eating by 4.30am with Fajr commencing at 4.36am, however in a few weeks the commencment of Fajr is at 4.10am (sunrise at ~5.20am) so do I need to get up earlier in order to eat and perform Fajr so that I don't comprimise my days fast?

Hope this makes sense .....

Assalamu alaikum

Yes, you would need to get up earlier as the Fajr starting time gets earlier.

We are allowed to eat and drink up untill the beginning of the Fajr time.   That is when the whiteness starts to come up in the sky and spread into the darkness across the horizon.

Remember that eating is NOT until the sunrise nor until Fajr time finishes.

In fact we are required to stop eating when the Fajr time begins.

Since the fajr time is changing, you'd need to change the time you wake up to eat as well - earlier in your example.  Allah put barakah (blessings) in all our fasts and Ramadan!

Wassalamualaikum
